We kicked off our Monday in the best way, dancing! For this week’s #DGFG Live Fit Club, we had special guest Skyler Rodgers, creator of Skybeat lead us through a kid friendly dance routine. Skybeat is a dance program for kids and adults that includes a competing crew and Skyler also helps students work on their hip hop skills.

Skyler is all about raising positivity and kindness through dance. This kid friendly dance routine is easy and fun. Skyler advises to let loose and that it’s okay to miss steps. Most importantly, remember to bend your knees! Skyler starts the dance routine with a warm up and then goes into a 15 minute dance routine. The dance routine is easy and fun to follow. Grab your coolest kicks and join us on the dance floor!

To keep up with Skyler and Skybeat, you can check him out on his Instagram, @Skybeatdance.

Make sure to tune in for more segments, Monday-Thursday @LLFoundation at 3PM!

For this segment of Story Hour #VolunteersWithAVoice, we had Alex de Armas reading the picture book I Walk with Vanessa by Kerascoët. Alex not only read the book, but created her own version of the story for us live!

Alex is an award-winning journalist who joined WSVN in March 2015 as a morning reporter. She was named Today in Florida co-anchor in September 2016. She was born and raised in Miami and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism and from Miami Dade Honors College.

She has also been a volunteer and wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2015 and discussed her passion for giving back on her DGFG Live segment. She also told us all about her journey to becoming a news anchor in her hometown!

To check out our Story Hour segments, head on over to our Instagram page @LLFoundation. Tune in Monday-Thursday at 3 p.m. for our DGFG Live segments!

Story Hour #VolunteersWithAVoice with Gabrielle Anwar

For our second #VolunteersWithAVoice Story Hour this week, we had renowned actress, filmmaker and mother Gabrielle Anwar! She read The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf.

Gabrielle Anwar is a well-known actress, starring in popular television shows such as “Burn Notice” and “The Tudors”, among others. As well as being an actress, Gabrielle is always working on new film projects. Even in quarantine! She also works closely with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and makes sure to give back with nonprofit organizations. She has worked to plan the Make-A-Wish Ball and co-host and has done amazingly at it!

The reading for this Story Hour had a great message for any young kid watching the segment. We loved The Story of Ferdinand because it shows how important it is to embrace your unique individuality. Ferdinand is a strong, yet gentle, character that young kids can look up to.

Thank you again to Gabrielle for a lovely reading and conversation this week! We appreciate your support for our #DGFGLive virtual programming.
