We had a great start to the week with a small twist! On Monday’s #DGFGLive we had CEO of Hungry Bark, Nick Molina also known as @SobeNick for our #CraftNight Program. Nick discussed the craft of being an entrepreneur. Molina mentioned the importance of giving back to the local community and how at Hungry Bark it is one of their core values.
Nick felt like an entrepreneur since he was a little kid. He remembers mowing the lawn and selling greeting cards door-to-door. Growing up he went to the University of Miami for Pre-Law but noticed it wasn’t his passion. On the side, he took a cellphone job that he liked the most. He was then influenced by it and started a company on his own called “Let’s Talk Wireless” at the age of 19.
His family background comes from cuban immigrants who raised him in New York and were always working. Nick found himself surrounded by entrepreneurs his whole life. He describes the fulfillment in his call by following his heart. By trying different routes, he learned what he liked and disliked. His newest passion project and company is Hungry Bark, a company catered to dogs providing healthy alternatives for meals. He also discussed failure and how many times he’s dealt with it but never gave up. Hard work and consistency pays off!

On one of this week’s segments of #VolunteersWithAVoice, 103.5 The Beat’s Stichiz joined us for a reading of her own children’s book, Tu Es Belle – You Are Beautiful!
LLF’s #VolunteersWithAVoice segments were created to share the message of kindness through children’s stories. We asked Stichiz why she felt it was important to write this book, she said “We really have to be mindful of what we say to our kids and how they internalize it. They are sponges! It’s more so speaking life, and speaking light!”
Stichiz also works with Girls Make Beats, a nonprofit organization that empowers girls by expanding the female presence of music producers, DJs, and audio engineers, who partners with LLF on our events!
You can keep up with Stichiz on Instagram @Stichiz. Tune in next week for readings by Johanna Gomez and Sarah Arison!

Our Mindful Hour segments are all about focusing on being present for a short moment amidst the busy daily routine of the week. For this Wednesday’s Mindful Hour, Erin spoke about having a mind-body connection at least once a day. She spoke about how being present with the simple action of taking a walk by yourself helps to clear your mind. Erin also led us through an easy breathing exercise that can help calm you down in a moment of stress or anxiety. Make sure to try it out and let us know how it helped you!
Thank you again to Erin for a wonderful program! We appreciate your support for The Little Lighthouse Foundation.
