On Monday, we started the week with DGFG Live “Mindful Hour” with Brie Mazin also known as @FloridaYogaMama. Brie Mazin is a mother and yoga instructor who has learned and taught yoga for over 10 years. Brie talked to us about her love for fitness and how she has ventured out on HIIT workouts and kickboxing but really found her love for yoga 10 years ago. Brie mentions the importance of making time for self care and recentering, which is crucial during these uncertain times.
Brie is also no stranger to the camera! She discussed how she has experience being a video host where she’s had the opportunity to interview celebrities and charities.
@FloridaYogaMama led us through a swift and therapeutic yoga practice, easy enough for children to do. She taught us yoga poses like Standing Warrior, Child’s Pose and Cobra. Check the full video out on our IGTV!

On one of this week’s segments of #VolunteersWithAVoice, Mayoress of Miami and Owner of Cymbidium Events, Gloria Suarez joined us for a reading of Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman.
LLF’s #VolunteersWithAVoice segments were created to share the message of kindness through children’s stories. We asked Gloria why this book was special to her and her children and she said, “This is a book that’s simple. The simplicity of how kind you can be with the simplest act of kindness is so important. Sometimes our friends and our family don’t need much to know that you’re thinking of them or that you care enough to pop in to say hello or bring them a small gift. And that’s exactly what happened to Bear…really, time together is the best gift of all!”
Gloria also gave us an inside look into how her family practices gratitude on a daily basis, as well as into her company, Cymbidium Events! We got to hear all about her role within the company and how they execute a perfect event.

Beauty All Around with Fashion Stylist, Lina Rodriguez

This past Wednesday, we had the wonderful Lina Rodriguez (@LinaFashionStylist) come on our DGFG Live “Beauty All Around” segment. As an avid fashion stylist, she was the perfect guest for it! Typically, our Beauty All Around program is hosted at The Lotus House. Beauty All Around provides a variety of therapeutic activities to Lotus House mothers and children, focusing on inner & outer beauty and wellness. Volunteers participate in make up sessions, yoga, gardening, arts & crafts, personal betterment, game nights and more! Our DGFG Live segment helps still bring that same energy, but virtually!
Lina has been in the fashion industry for 11 years, but she found her passion for it at a very young age. She recalls styling one of her friends in 2nd grade for her birthday, and there the dream for becoming a stylist was born! From then on she became a certified fashion stylist and consultant and has worked in fashion editorial, advertising, music video, commercials, prop styling, tv shows, and more.
Lina has been working on making more sustainable fashion choices. One of her favorite things is to renovate her old pieces to make them into new looks, like what she was wearing in the live segment! She also likes to donate her clothes, and the clothes from her clients, to shelters in need like the Lotus House or Chapman. She encourages people to donate whenever you can to those in need.

Full Body Workout with Fitness Enthusiast, Phillip Maldonado

We had the perfect guest for this week’s Fit Club segment, fitness expert and enthusiast Phillip Maldonado. He created an energetic and upbeat kid’s workout that any family can take part in from the comfort of their home! He is a Miami-based trainer that focuses on movement and how essential it is to keep yourself up and moving.
Stepping his foot into the fitness world, he dived into cheerleading and formed a passion towards the sport. He eventually became a cheerleading coach, teaching kids of all ages. Later in his career, he started to work for Soul Cycle who has created a platform of wellness and fitness programs. He is also an advocate for Arbonne which are clean, vegan products that improve the mind, body, and skin. Phillip’s push toward movement and a healthy lifestyle made him a great fit for this week’s workout!
