We started the week on DGFG Live with Leah Goldglantz, also known as @LeahsPlate, for our Adopt a Meal segment presented by Vero Water for Ronald McDonald’s House Charities. Although we can’t personally deliver meals, we are providing tasty recipes through our generous guests virtually. On Monday, Leah taught us how to make healthy overnight oats, prepared the night before to make life a little easier.
Leah is a mother of two who enjoys cooking so much that she’s created a name for herself. Leah’s food blog, “Leah’s Plate” and her large Instagram following shows just that. On weekends, she enjoys grabbing smoothies and spending quality time with her family.
For the overnight oats, she explains how she created one portion for herself, but it can be adjusted by doubling or quadrupling the ingredients for a friend or family member! She recommends making the oats in a mason jar but a bowl with tin foil works just as well.
Take a look below for all the ingredients and instructions it took to make these hearty and healthy overnight oats!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Serving size: 1 person
Ingredients:
- ½ Cup of old fashioned oats
- 1 Tablespoon of ground flax seeds
- ½ Mashed banana (sweetener)
- ¼ Teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ Malk Almond Milk (or preferred milk)
Instructions:
- Place ½ cup old fashioned oats in a bowl or mason jar.
- Add 1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds.
- Mash ½ a banana and add to the bowl.
- Add ¼ teaspoon cinnamon.
- Add ½ Malk almond milk or any preferred milk to the bowl.
- Stir and for an extra treat add your favorite fruit.
- Place foil over bowl and refrigerate overnight.
- It’s ready to eat the next morning!
