Story Hour #VolunteersWithAVoice with Sofia Acosta

This weeks DGFG live #VolunteersWithAVoice Story Hour with Miss Supranational USA,Sofia Acosta. Sofia is not only a pageant queen but also a dedicated  construction worker, diligent business woman , and one of our amazing LLF volunteers. Sofia read “The Little GingerBread Man” by Carol Moore. The read was about an old lady who loved baking gingerbread for her and her husband. While the gingerbread was out cooling the town’s children would sneak them. She grew tired of making new gingerbread houses and ran out of cooking supplies. She wished that the children would knock and ask before taking her cookies. In her last batch , she baked them bigger so the kids couldn’t grasp them. In a twist, a big and wonderful [blue] butterfly fluttered below to the “living”gingerbread. The butterfly asked them to follow her. Their frosted eyes glance but the smallest one jumps from the tray. Outside the window unto the grass below; the butterfly is motivating the small ginger to keep going. After, almost being  eaten by many animals on their journey. She [the butterfly] safely returns little gingerbread back to his ginger[bread] parents at last. The little gingerbread knew he was different and felt seen . In identifying the difference, the butterfly made him feel seen and protected. Instead of leaving him to be eaten, she encouraged every step of the way to keep going. The lesson is to trust your instincts and have the willpower to take charge of your destiny. Not letting differences stop us from helping one another. Like the butterfly, Sofia has extended her wings of encouragement and motivation toward  others.  Through defeating all odds and sharing her experiences as motivation to keep striving.
