For this Monday’s Story Hour #VolunteersWithAVoice, we had journalist and news anchor Lauren Pastrana reading Mommy, Please Don’t Go to Work by Rhiannon Alley.
Lauren is a journalist/news anchor at CBS 4 News and a mother! She was particularly excited about joining LLF because one of her many passions is reading. If Lauren isn’t reporting the news to South Florida or chasing around her children, you can find her reading a book or listening to an audio book.

For this segment of Story Hour #VolunteersWithAVoice, we had LLF Co-Founder Robert Sena read us “The Last Stop on Market Street” by Matt De La Pena.
Robert Sena has been a Miami Beach resident since 2004. He holds a B.A. in Business Management from Gettysburg College and has a Master’s of Science from New York University in Real Estate, with a concentration in Development. He worked with a non profit from NYC from 2002- 2009 prior to founding the LLF. Robert made the vision possible of assisting to the underserved children and families. In 2010, he decided it was in the best interest of the facilities and children he served in the Miami area to create an organization based and operated in South Florida.

Our mid-week was blessed with another great #VolunteersWithAVoice Story Hour Presented Joshua & Jenni Coba with actor, author and speaker, Colin Egglesfield! He read Where Is Pidge? By Michelle Grimes.
Colin Egglesfield is a prominent American actor that has been in famous movies and television shows, such as the soap opera All My Children and the movie Something Borrowed with Kate Hudson! Colin also is an author, his book is titled Agile Artist: Life Lessons from Hollywood and Beyond. He also runs his own New York City-based clothing company “Shout Out Clothing!”, which he principally uses as a way to promote and support educational initiatives. With Colin being super a busy man, we’re so grateful to have his support in our #DGFGLive segment this week!
Colin read Where Is Pidge? By Michelle Grimes, who is actually a friend of Colin’s. The story is about Pidge, a curious and fun middle child in a big family. One day, she decides to run away, and her plan leads her to a very odd place! Make sure to watch our full IGTV story to listen to Colin read the whole story!

Fit Club Presented by LaCroix with Ana Bozovic

For the #DGFG Live Fit Club workout of the week we had fitness/boxing trainer from 5th St. Gym, Ana Bozovic, lead us through an energetic and boxing infused workout that any family can take part in.
Ana is a personal trainer working with 5th St. Gym in Miami. She trains up and coming boxers and teaches them all about the boxing “mindset” as well. She believes strongly in the power of mindset and that you must be “in the now’” and in the present to be a successful athlete. 5th St. Gym had part in creating the great Muhammad Ali, who trained there back in the day. Ana keeps all her boxers on their toes and pushes them to their greatest potential. She teaches them all about the mental aspects of boxing as well as the physical. In this week’s Fit Club Segment presented by LaCroix, she brought us through an upbeat workout that gives you the perfect amount of rest and exercise. Ana’s positive energy and passion for boxing made this Fit Club a one that families will love!

3 min jump rope warm up
1 min break
1st interval x 2
- 30 seconds jump rope
- 30 seconds shadow box
- 30 seconds burpees (no pushup)
- 30 seconds squat jump
- 30 seconds pushups (or pushup rows if you have dumbbells)
- 30 seconds russian twist
2nd interval x 2
- 30 seconds jump rope
- 30 seconds shadow box
- 30 seconds burpees no pushups, no jump
- 30 seconds side lunges
- 30 seconds mountain climbers
- 30 seconds in-out legs (in a v) sit ups
Coach Dino’s Burpee Challenge, 5 minutes
- On the minute, 1 burpee

- 2nd minute, 2 burpees
