Adopt A Meal with Chef Claudia

This Monday’s Do Good Feel Good Live was kicked off with nothing better than our Adopt a Meal Program. Our special guest for the day was Chef Claudia and surprise guests Jon (Husband) and their son and daughter. It was a delicious immunity boosting meal. Jon and Chef Claudia’s meal of choice was Salmon with broccoli and spinach. They both suggested including organic only vegetables to pair with the salmon for a healthier meal and to avoid pesticides within your vegetables and that your salmon is well caught and not farm grown. The Ingredients are listed below but you can follow the family along for a healthy filling meal on IGTV.

For the #DGFG Live Fit Club workout of the week we had our very own LLF Executive Director Jonathan Babicka lead us through an energetic workout that can be done from the comfort of your home!
Jonathan Babicka was born and raised in Bergen County, New Jersey. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Communications, Babicka moved to Florida where he began his career distributing hair products through his company BDF Master Distributors. Opening Primp Salon in May 2009 sparked his passion for working with non-profits through events and fashion shows. An active philanthropist, Babicka is involved in a variety of incredible charities in South Florida, and the Little Lighthouse Foundation has always been one of Babicka’s favorites. Now, as Executive Director of the Little Lighthouse Foundation, Babicka is concentrating his life’s work to focus on the needs of children and their families, issues near and dear to his heart. Babicka is the creator of Philanthropic Lifestyle, integrating high profile brands with nonprofit organizations to raise awareness through online marketing, program development, and events. Babicka has also been a member of the Educational Foundation of America’s Adjunct Committee, and a member of the Prentice Foundation since the age of 18. A Miami Beach resident for over 13 years, Babicka is happily married to his wife, Missy Babicka, and a proud dad to their children.

This Wednesday for our #VolunteersWithAVoice Story Hour presented by It’s 4 the Kids we had Shannon Allen, CEO of grownwoman (@grown). She read Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry.
Shannon Allen is the creator of grown and our resident mom-on-the-go. Shannon lives in Miami with her husband, Ray Allen (two-time NBA champion) and their five children. grown‘s restaurant concept evolved from her television show, The Pre-Game Meal, inspired by 18 years of preparing optimal game day meals for her husband. The show featured professional athletes and chefs preparing healthier versions of tailgate food in hopes of inspiring soccer moms and sports fans alike to embrace a healthier diet exercise. The Allen’s are passionate advocates for research for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes in honor of their seven-year-old son, Walker. Shannon, Ray and their family devote their time and efforts to raise the level of awareness of T1D and its symptoms and are committed with purpose, passion and dedication to prevailing in the fight against this potentially life threatening disease.
She read Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry. This captivating story is about the bond between a father and his daughter as he navigates doing her hair for the first time. Cherry’s book highlights the importance of loving and embracing our hair in its natural state.

Fit Club Presented by LaCroix with Emily Lezcano

This weeks #DGFG Fit Club featured Health and Fitness Instructor, Emily Lezcano. Emily led us through an energetic workout that can be done from the comfort of your home! Emily is a certified Fitness Coach based in Miami, Florida and she is the Head Coach at Tapout Fitness Coral Gables.
Emily started working out at a young age and started as a Pilates Instructor before mastering KettleBell, Bootcamp HIIT and boxing classes. During our Fit Club Hour, Emily led a Family Friendly Martial Arts workout that included our very own Little Lighthouse Foundation Executive Director, Jonathan Babicka and his daughter Layla. She got our blood pumping while also providing options everyone can do. She led us through a warmup of High Knees, Walk Out Planks, Jumping Jacks. She also taught us a few powerful boxing combinations as well as strengthening exercises which teach discipline and self defense for children.
Emily’s workout got our blood pumping and it was a pleasure to have her for our #DGFGLive Fit Club! Her full workout can be seen on IGTV!
