Every Monday we take the time to spread the word on our Adopt a Meal program which usually takes place at the Ronald McDonald House Charities as we provide meals for the families that are staying here due to medical reasons. This Monday we had the pleasure of collaborating with Mrs. Globe 2001, Stacey Shabtai and her beautiful yogi daughter, Kristen Cooper.
Kristen recently collaborated with the Little Lighthouse Foundation (“LLF”) for our Mindful Hour program. Wasn’t she incredible? If you were not able to watch her segment live, no worries! You can click here and enjoy her yogi greatness!
Today we invite you to recreate this delicious recipe Stacey and Kristen shared with us. Not only are they beautiful on the outside, but they also try to keep their systems as clean and healthy as possible on the inside. Through instilling the importance of vegetables and clean eating from a young age, Stacey has been able to guide her daughters to lead healthy lives through great nutrition!

On this week’s segment of #VolunteersWithAVoice, our friend and NBC6 Entertainment Reporter Kelly Blanco, joined us for a reading of Superheroes Don’t Clean Up Their Rooms…or Do They? By Zack Bush.
We asked Kelly why she thought it was important for children to hear these stories about kindness, she said “Real superheroes, their main qualities and traits are of course, love and honesty and kindness. The cape for me represents giving…give when you’re happy, give when you’re sad, give when you’re confused and the whole world just looks a little better when you’re giving.”
Kelly also answered some fun, rapid fire questions that gave us a peek into the life of a top South Florida Entertainment Reporter! She discussed her beginnings in the world of journalism and provided some insight into her journey as a reporter.
LLF’s #VolunteersWithAVoice segments support LLF’s Back to School initiative, which is to get school supplies to 1500 underserved children in need from LLF’s Partner Facilities, including Fienberg Fisher K-8, Excel Kids Academy, Brent Wright Leadership Academy, Carrfour and Motivational Edge. To learn more and make a donation, visit give.classy.org/BackToSchool2020.
You can keep up with Kelly on Instagram @KellyNBC6. Tune in next week for a reading by our special guest, Jawan Strader (NBC6)!

Move and Groove with Josh Anchondo and Sean Green Presented by Joshua and Jenni Coba

Move and Groove has made a comeback to DGFG Live, thanks to Josh Anchondo, aka DJ Supreme1. In support of LLF’s Back to School Program, Josh DJed a virtual dance party for kids with a special guest appearance from Sean Green. Josh is a part of Supreme Events FL. He has played iHeart Music Festivals, sold out arenas and so much more. He’s a pretty talented guy! Sean Green is the choreographer of the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders and the Miami Heat Dancers. You could say he has the moves. Alright, let’s talk business–doing good business.
LLF’s Back to School Program is going to look a little different than years past. Normally, volunteers pass out the school supplies to hundreds of students, however COVID-19 changed our plans. Instead, with the help of LED Trucks, we will be traveling to partner facilities dropping off backpacks, school supplies, and whatever the child needs to have a safe and successful school year. Click here to donate.
This is where you come in…we need YOUR help to fundraise for the unserved students. It is only $50 to sponsor one child. Your $50 would get them a backpack, school supplies, snacks, sanitizing products, and so much more. Click the link to donate and make a difference in a child’s life. School can change their life for the better.
