For this Monday’s Story Hour #VolunteersWithAVoice, we were joined by Drew Rosenhaus reading It’s Okay to be Different by Sharon Purtill. Drew is a professional sports agent who has worked with some of the NFL’s biggest stars throughout his career.
Drew Rosenhaus is the founder of Rosenhaus Sports, a sports agency that represents professional and aspiring athletes across different leagues. While Drew has represented baseball and basketball players, he is mostly known for his representation of football players. He has represented NFL players such as Rob Gronkowski, Chad Johnson, Frank Gore, and LeSean McCoy. His agency has helped negotiate over $7 billion dollars in contracts for its players.
In 2019, LLF partnered with Drew Rosenhaus Youth Sports Clinic for the 2019 Christmas in July event. During this event, 500 Liberty City children were able to train with professional athletes and trainers. The children were able to come out and experience a day full of fun sports activities, something that Drew said is so valuable to children growing up. He says that it was experiences like these that really helped him realize that he wanted to work in sports.
Drew is the only sports agent to ever be on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine, and he has made numerous appearances on national television, movies, and TV shows. He has published two books, the first being an autobiography, and the second being an outline of his business success.

This Wednesday for Fit Club presented by LaCroix Sparkling Water we were joined by Maurah Ruiz, an entrepreneur, model, and current Miss Global USA.
Maurah is currently serving as Miss Global USA and will compete in September for the title of Miss Global in Jakarta and Bali. She said that since holding the title of Miss Global USA, she has gained a new international following that she never had before. She has worked for many years to hopefully attain the title, and she said that finally getting it is a dream come true.
Maurah grew up in El Paso, Texas, and also lived in Austin for some of her childhood. She spoke on what it was like for her growing up and said that she grew up in an underserved community, so she is grateful for any opportunity she gets to work with organizations like LLF. Because of her upbringing, she is extremely passionate about giving back to the community and inspiring children who may be in a similar situation to her. Today, Maurah is a board member for More Than Colors, a nonprofit organization that turns donated makeup products into paints for children.
For Maurah’s Fit Club segment, she guided us through a fitness class for kids. All of her exercises were things that the whole family can take part in together.
