For this Monday’s Mindful Hour presented by Centner Academy, we had Centner Academy’s Mindfulness Coach, Gabriela Jimenez, teaching mindfulness techniques.
Gabriela Jimenez has more than thirteen years of experience working with children. She began as a Montessori teacher and for the past seven years, she has been teaching mindfulness to children in schools and private homes. She trained closely with master teachers from India. She is certified as a Conscious Parenting Coach and has trained in positive psychology. Currently, she serves as the Mindfulness Coach at Centner Academy where she oversees daily breathwork and meditation with students.
On Monday January 4th, Gabriela Jimenez taught us some amazing breathing exercises both kids and adults can do. She also showed us how she uses emotion cards to help kids understand their own emotions. She mentions that understanding your emotions and how you feel is very important for the long run because not everyone’s the same and one technique won’t work for everyone and that’s why it is important to see what works best for you. Thank you, Gabriela, for teaching us and mindfulness techniques during our Mindful Hour!
Tune in Monday-Thursday at 3 p.m. for our DGFG Live segments!

For the #DGFG Live Fit Club workout of the week we had Group Fitness & Spin Instructor Amy Segal, lead us through an energetic and family friendly workout that can be done from the comfort of your home!
Amy moved to Miami in 1995 to attend graduate school at the University of Miami School of Law, where she received her JD and LLM (Masters In Law) degrees. After working for a developer for 15 years, Amy decided to expand her family and become a full-time mom. During this time, she fell in love with indoor cycling and the rest was history. Over the past six years #AMYSPIN has developed a tremendous following. It’s a lifestyle, it’s a community, it’s family. Amy describes her classes as “therapy, mood changes…”. You come in feeling one way and walk out on cloud nine. She has her own teaching style: ”working out should be fun, something people want to do and not feel they have to do”. In Amy’s classes you sing, you dance, you smile, you cultivate friendships —it doesn’t feel like “exercise”. Amy’s vibrant energy and passion for fitness made her the ideal guest to kickstart this year’s first Fit Club Program!
